Once, a wandering monk arrived at Alummoottil, carrying an ancient palm-leaf manuscript. He claimed the scroll contained secrets of Vishachikitsa (poison remedies) and sought refuge in the Nalukettu. The family welcomed him warmly, eager to learn from the wisdom he carried.
One evening, as he demonstrated the art of neutralizing snake venom, the scroll mysteriously vanished. The monk accused the family of theft and cursed them. “You will never find peace in your land until the truth of the scroll is revealed,” he declared before vanishing into the night.
Years later, during a renovation of the house, workers found the scroll hidden in the ceiling of the Meda. The chieftain realized it had been hidden by an envious servant who feared the knowledge would make the family too powerful. The scroll was returned to the temple in the nearby village, and the curse was lifted.
