One year during Karkkidakam (the monsoon month in Kerala), the family invited seven priests to perform a grand puja for protection. As the rituals began, an eerie phenomenon occurred—seven shadowy figures appeared near the sacred fire.
At first, the family thought they were spirits attracted by the sanctity of the ritual. But when the priests confronted them, the shadows began to shift and merge, growing into a single ominous form.
The eldest priest cried out, “This is no benevolent spirit! It is a demon drawn to your unresolved sins!”
The form addressed the family in a booming voice. “You destroyed my home, scattered my kind, and built your wealth upon our suffering. Until you make amends, I will haunt this land.”
The family realized the demon referred to a grove they had cleared decades earlier. In a desperate act of repentance, they replanted trees on the estate and offered daily prayers. Though the hauntings ceased, the shadowy figures are said to reappear during Karkkidakam if the rituals are not upheld.
