  • Relationship to Victim: Nephew

Initial Observations:

  • Witnesses report a heated argument between Sreedharan and Kochu Kunju earlier that day regarding family inheritance matters.
  • Several villagers noted seeing Sreedharan near the Alummoottil Meda around the estimated time of death.

Witness Statements:

  1. Neigbor: Claims to have seen Sreedharan in the vicinity of the crime scene shortly before the murder.
  2. Passerby: Provides vague details that suggest a confrontation but fails to recall specifics.

[Notes on Coercion]:
Investigated witness statements indicate potential intimidation in the collection of testimonies. Several villagers appear apprehensive regarding their statements, hinting at pressure from community sentiment. But innocent villagers are easy to coerce with the police axiom, if you dont bear witness, you will be the culprit yourself.

Investigation Actions:

  • Conducted a thorough search of the crime scene in the presence of Tehsildar.
  • Witness interviews conducted in the presence of District Magistrate.
  • Collected circumstantial evidence connecting Sreedharan to the scene in the presence of Superintendant.

Fabricationse:

  • Kochu Kunju Channar’s blood was applied to Sreedharan’s personal sword
  • Items were planted at the location to implicate Sreedharan directly.
  • Sreedharan’s shirt is stained with the same blood group as that of victim.
  • Extorted a confession from Sreedharan during interrogation under duress, suggesting he felt threatened about familial consequences.
  • Testimony was fabricated from Sreedharan’s Kalari guru, of his intricate knowledge of the way to strike the sword and render pain to victim.

Observations:

  • Nature of investigation needs to be aggressive.
  • Witnesses must be intimidated during interviews.
  • Evidence collection should be for closure than rigorous attention to fact.

Future Considerations:

  • Malloor is an exceptional lawyer. It is best to discourage him from appearing for Sreedharan.
  • News articles must reflect the brutality of the crime, so as to influence judiciary.
  • Diwan has personally called and asked the investigation to be hurried.
  • King’s personal secretary has called and asked the investigation to be accelerated
  • King and Diwaan’s influence will be vital to influence Tehsildar, Prosecutor, District Magistrate and Peshkar
