August 15, 2024, Muttom - The Alummoottil Trust, established by the sons of Chellamma and unilaterally managed by its Managing Trustee, Ramesh Chandran, has recently come under scrutiny for allegedly obstructing the rightful heirs and beneficiaries of the Alummoottil property from accessing their ancestral properties and filing false FIR against them.
On August 9, 2024, Anoop Madhavan, son of Radhakrishnan Madhavan and grandson of Chellamma Channaty, who is recognized as a beneficiary of the trust, was forcibly prevented from entering the Alummoottil property. Reports indicate that this obstruction was carried out by local gundas in Muttom, allegedly acting under the direction of Sivadasan, a long-time U.S. resident and elder brother of Ramesh Chandran. It is believed that these individuals were directly arranged by Gigi Ramesh, the wife of Ramesh Chandran.
The situation took a turn, when Anoop Madhavan, a beneficiary of the Alummoottil Trust, attempted to enter the family property in Muttom, where he had spent 14 years of his upbringing. Anoop, reportedly distressed at being denied access, was attacked by these individuals who allegedly were acting under the direction of the trust's Managing Trustee, Ramesh Chandran. According to sources, the confrontation led to a physical conflict in which two of the individuals appointed by Ramesh Chandran were hospitalized following defensive actions taken by Anoop.
Local allegations suggest that Ramesh Chandran, Managing Trustee of the Alummoottil Trust, has been blocking rightful heirs from accessing the property, reportedly due to concerns that missing movable assets, which disappeared after he assumed his role, may be identified and pointed out by the heirs.
In the aftermath of the incident, Ramesh Chandran took the opportunity to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Anoop at the Kareelakulangara police station. The FIR reportedly names Arun Unni, a work supervisor, as a proxy. Anoop’s legal team has expressed concerns that the FIR is misleading, as the aggreived party is Anoop, in that local goons were arranged to prevent him from entering property in which he has rights. Further developments are expected as both parties continue to take steps in addressing the ongoing dispute.
There are also reports suggesting that Ramesh Chandran was involved in a similar incident several years ago, involving a dispute with the son-in-law of Saradha, the only daughter of Chellamma Channaty, at the Alummoottil property. At that time, a case was reportedly filed against Ramesh Chandran for assault. However, sources indicate that the case was later dismissed by the authorities, allegedly due to the influence of a high-ranking IPS officer, who is related to Ramesh Chandran's wife.
