1. Vaikom Shiva Temple (Vaikom, Kottayam District)
- Deity: Lord Shiva, worshipped as Vaikathappan.
- Details: This temple holds great spiritual significance for the Alummoottil family. Kuthakkakkaran Sekharan Channar credited Vaikathappan’s blessings for his success in the liquor trade and other ventures. He established a daily offering, “praathal” (morning meal), at the temple as an act of gratitude. The temple is known for its ancient architecture, large sanctum, and the annual Vaikom Ashtami festival.
2. Thalikkal Shiva Temple (Pallippad, Alappuzha District)
- Deity: Lord Shiva, along with Brahmarakshassu (Cherupadalam Pottimars).
- Details: This temple was supported and renovated by Kuthakkakkaran Sekharan Channar as part of spiritual appeasement rituals for the family. He covered the temple roof with copper sheets and donated land for installing the Cherupadalam Pottimars. A symbolic gold thread from the Alummoottil house to the temple was stretched during certain ceremonies. This temple remains a vital part of the Alummoottil family’s spiritual activities.
3. Thekkadattu Mahadeva Temple (Muttom, Alappuzha District)
- Deity: Lord Shiva.
- Details: Following an altercation at another family temple, Kuthakkakkaran Sekharan Channar consecrated this temple. He invited the Kantiyur Mattath Vishwanatha Gurukkal for the Shiva-pratishtha (installation ceremony). The annual Shivaratri festival, including a grand procession with decorated elephants, became a highlight of this temple. Fireworks and traditional ceremonies attracted wide participation, cementing the temple’s importance in the family’s religious calendar.
4. Evoor Sashikrishna Swamy Temple (Evoor, Alappuzha District)
- Deity: Lord Krishna, worshipped in the form of Sashikrishna.
- Details: Sekharan Channar constructed a well and a carriage shed near this temple. He also supervised the construction of other facilities for the temple’s convenience. The family maintained ties with the temple, and ceremonial offerings were made to honor this connection until later generations discontinued the practice.
5. Kanichanellur Ganapathi Temple (Kanichanellur, Kollam District)
- Deity: Lord Ganesha.
- Details: The temple was reconstructed by Kuthakkakkaran Sekharan Channar, demonstrating his dedication to religious and cultural preservation. It became a focal point for Ganesha worship in the region, reflecting the Alummoottil family’s commitment to maintaining spiritual traditions.
