One of the most significant achievements of Valiyakunju Shankaran Channar was the reconstruction of the Alummoottil Nalukettu, a traditional Kerala-style house. In A.D. 1870, he purchased this grand structure from the Nellimoottil family for 1,000 raashis (gold coins). Originally built in A.D. 1746 by Maharaja Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma for the Nellimoottil family as a token of gratitude, this structure symbolized heritage and affluence.
After acquiring it, Shankaran Channar dismantled the house, transported it to Alummoottil, and reassembled it meticulously. This monumental effort required exceptional organizational skills and showcased his commitment to preserving cultural and architectural heritage. The Nalukettu became a centerpiece of the Alummoottil estate, serving as a venue for family gatherings and administrative activities. Its relocation marked a turning point in the prominence of the Alummoottil family.
